What are our products made from?

HATS

Winter Hats:
Our Cold Weather Collection is made from wools and wool mixes (where possible we try and use a wool/cashmere or wool/angora mix for added softness against the skin). The wools we choose usually originate in Italy.  We have found Italian wools to have the best combination of style, color and texture.  We also use soft American-made leather to trim both The Janus and The Blériot.  The Blériot fastens with a toggle button made from knotted twigs.
Summer Hats:
Our Warm Weather Collection is made from 100% cotton, sourced in the USA but often including prints from Africa and Asia.

Our brims are made from a foam with memory, so that it can be folded in your pocket or squashed in your bag without damaging the shape of your brim.

What about sizing?
All of our hats are unisex and adjustable, either with a strap or an elastic at the back.  They will fit heads sized 21"-24".  We can make larger hats on request but cannot guarantee fabric availability.  See how to measure your head here.


How should I care for my hat?
We recommend that all of our hats be hand washed in luke warm water with a little soap and air dried.  This not only prevents shrinking but is more environmentally-friendly and kinder to the fabric.  To speed up drying you can roll your hat in a towel before hanging or laying flat to dry.

What kind of ink is used on your screen-printed hats?
We use only water-based inks when we print hats.  This ink is non-toxic, prints lighter than plastisol and will also fade nicely and become even softer with age.

Do you take custom orders from individuals?
Yes we do.  We can fulfill individual custom orders depending on the fabric we have in house.  We do not deviate from our current patterns apart from sizing requests and a custom hat takes between 3 and 6 weeks to deliver depending on where we are shipping to and how busy we are on the cutting room floor.  

Do you take wholesale custom orders for stores?
Yes we do.  We have made successful custom runs for bike shops, coffee shops, races and tournaments.  Logos can be screen printed or embroidered.  We can also work with you to adjust your design to a Fifo piece.  Please email custom@fifocycle.com for more info including pricing and minimums.

Shipping

How will the item be packaged?
We put a lot of time into figuring out the best way to package our products to make sure they are protected in transit.  Hats are rolled and packed so that the brim is in perfect shape when it arrives.  We use recycled paper and boxes and put as much care into our packaging design as we do into the goods that lie within.  If the item is a gift we can include a gift card and withhold prices from the packing slip on request.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes.  We ship to almost every country in the world.  *Please note: Orders shipped outside of the U.S. are subject to regular customs duties and fees levied by the destination country.

How long will it take for my hat to arrive?
Standard shipping for orders in the contiguous United States takes 5-10 business days.  We ship internationally at adjusted rates and orders usually take 2-5 weeks to arrive depending on destination.  Orders to Europe often arrive within 2 weeks but this cannot be guaranteed.  
*Please note: Orders shipped outside of the U.S. are subject to regular customs duties and fees levied by the destination country.

What shipping method do you use?
We use USPS First Class or Priority Mail in the United States.  International orders are shipped via USPS First Class International.  

How much does shipping cost?  Is it less if I buy more?
Shipping charges depend on the size of your package and the country we're shipping to.  If you buy more than one item, you will not be charged double the shipping but instead your final shipping cost will be determined by weight and destination, saving you some cash.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover or direct payments through PayPal.  E-checks need to be approved before shipping.

Do I need a Paypal account to purchase from your store?
No, you are not required to have a PayPal account to purchase from this store. Although if you already have a PayPal account you may use it.

How secure is this store?

This store uses PayPal for payments, and PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).


Do you sell Gift Certificates?

Yes, we certainly do. You can purchase them here.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk pricing?

Yes, but we screen the companies who are interested in carrying Fifo products. We want to make sure that Fifo is a good fit for the companies with which we work. If you would like more information, please contact us and include some background information about your shop/company.


What is your return policy?

Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. In general, unworn items can be exchanged within 15 days of delivery. Please include a copy of the packing slip that was sent with your original purchase. If a product is defective, it may be exchanged for a new product which will be shipped to you at no additional charge.  If you have further questions please contact us.
